am 17. 09. 1999 eröffnete das planxty in den räumen der ehemaligen "hubertusschänke" in homburgs eisenbahnstrasse.

irgendwann gab es dann ärger mit den nachbarn wegen ruhestörung und ein umzug wurde notwendig.
am 22. 10. 2004 eröffnete das planxty dann in den frisch renovierten räumen des "gasthaus zum storchen".

doch auch hier gabs irgendwann die in der gastronomie wohl unvermeidlichen probleme mit vermieter und nachbarn, sodass ein zweiter umzug nicht zu vermeiden war. am 27. 01. 2007 schloss das "planxty im storchen" seine pforten. am 09. 02. 2007 eöffnet das planxty in der talstrasse 33 (früher äppelche / kurt).

Planxty was an Irish folk music band formed in the 1970s by Christy Moore, Donal Lunny, Andy Irvine (a founder of the Irish mid-sixties group Sweeney's Men), and Liam O'Flynn (piper).

The name Planxty comes from a word used by the classic harpist Turlough O'Carolan in many of his works, and is thought to mean a tribute to a particular person ("Planxty Irwin", for example, being a tribute to Colonel John Irwin of Sligo). "Planxty" is believed to be a corruption of the Irish word and popular toast "sláinte", meaning "good health". Others claim that the word is not Irish in origin but comes from the Latin "plangere," meaning to strike or beat.
